Pinson is a prototype project built entirely with Max MSP which transposes drawings into music. Strokes painted on the canvas produce various sounds depending on their color, length, thickness and position.

First, using a tablet or a smart phone, the painter chooses a color and traces with their finger to hear music emerge, one that is completely unique to their art.

Once the artist is satisfied with the result, they can have their drawing replayed by the program, which will add its own artistic touch. Indeed, the painting will be reconstituted before their eyes but this time with an added algorithmic randomness, making it more abstract. Of course, the resulting music will also undergo a metamorphosis.

The painting and its music can be replayed endlessly until they are completely distorted from their original form.
