Interactive installation created for the launch of the CONTACTS edition of the student magazine Le Culte.
A payphone stands in the basement of a party hall, awaiting visitors. Behind it, a mural projection displays the party taking place upstairs, in real time. Upon approaching the stand, one may pick up the phone and see it shine a light on them as it emits a mysterious sound, uttering a nebulous message. Throughout this contact with the unknown, the person listening is filmed. People's videos are collected and arranged in a mosaic which is projected in the main room upstairs where the party is in full swing, calling on the curious to come pick up the phone.
Thus, there is an unresolved contact between the two rooms, a blurred line between observer and observed, and a mediation that makes any form of simultaneous communication impossible. Yet somehow, people still come together, whether it be in grid formation on a screen or on the dance floor.
